BigToyTalk launches

BigToyTalkOur new sister site, BigToyTalk has now launched, covering the world of toys and collectibles for an older age group.

It’s always exciting to launch a new site and we hope that BigToyTalk will follow the same path as ToyTalk, which has now established itself as the UK’s leading consumer toy news website, with around 15,000 unique visitors per month.

BigToyTalk will give us the scope to cover more complicated toys and high-end collectibles, and we’re looking forward to working with some new names in the toy industry.

ToyTalk passes the quarter-million mark

ToyTalk chalked up another milestone this past weekend, when the site received its 250,000th page view. That means that, since launching back in January of 2006, a quarter of a million pages have been read.

The next big milestone, our 1000th story, is due to be reached sometime this month…

New look for ToyTalk... again

New look for ToyTalk.co.ukMaybe you shouldn’t judge a book by its cover, but it’s hard not to judge a website by its front page. For some time now, we’ve felt that ToyTalk’s design was a little tired, so this week we’ve been working hard to create a new look.

The result is (we think) a much brighter, fresher and more modern feel for the site and the new look went live today.

Also new in the Huckleberry stable is the ToyTalk Blog, giving ToyTalk editor David Smith a platform to spout off about anything vaguely toy-related that takes his fancy.

New launch imminent!

It hardly seems possible that ToyTalk is entering its third year, but it’s true. We’ve been delighted with the growth the site has experienced and we think it’s time to take the next step.

Within the next month we plan to announce a new website in the Huckleberry Media portfolio, one that will build on the success of ToyTalk and bring in a whole new audience. It’s an exciting time and we’ll tell you more shortly…

ToyTalk reviewed

ToyTalk has just been reviewed by the independent review site The Weblog Review. We’re delighted with their opinion of the site and obviously agree with everything they said.

Visit their site to read the full review or enjoy the best bits below…

“The content is so well rounded that the site is interesting even if you aren’t an industry insider. I suppose that is because it is done up by an actual writer who sees a toy not just as a toy but a slice in a much larger environment. It is incredibly informative and well done.”
“If I were a buyer for a toy store, I’d be in here all the time. I hail it as probably the best product-review style business site I’ve seen yet during my tenure here at The Weblog Review.”

Christmas cheer

As Christmas rolls around again we’re getting a big boost to our visitor numbers. October saw more than 13,000 unique visitors come to the site – our best month ever!

ToyTalk takes off

ToyTalk attracted 10,272 unique visitors in July, making it our second-best month ever, beating November of last year. It also represents a 673% year-on-year increase compared with last July – and that can’t be bad.

With traffic increasing every month, we expect this figure to climb steadily, and last year we received a huge boost in the busy Christmas months of November and December, so we’re looking for another spike this time around.

We think it’s fair to say that ToyTalk has established itself as the UK’s leading consumer toy news website, and we’ll continue to work hard to make it better.

New look for ToyTalk

We've incorporated a few new style items into the latest ToyTalk redesign. Navigational links are now easier to find, being aligned directly underneath the banner. We think the site looks better and is easy to get around.

Visitor traffic continues to grow, with more than 7,500 unique visitors in May. We anticipate another big spike in our visitors around November - last year we had more than 10,000 unique visitors that month and we’re hoping for considerably more this time around.

Christmas is a-coming...

... and our visitor stats are going mad! ToyTalk received more than 10,000 unique visitors in November and is currently on course to top that in December. The Christmas period is obviously having an effect, but we also attribute this to better listings at Google.

ToyTalk is now establishing itself as a really useful resource for toy buyers in the UK and around the world and we're looking forward to getting stuck into 2007.

ToyTalk continues to grow

ToyTalk continues to attract more visitors, with 2,364 unique visitors coming to the site in September, according to Extreme Tracking, our traffic-monitoring software. October is already close to this number and we are hopeful of hitting 3,000 for the first time.
